Winter is a Comin' In......

As a welcome back to school we had a significant snowfall to enjoy! The colors in the classroom are making the transition from the warm yellows, oranges, and greens of fall to blues, purples, and cooler colors of winter.  The children have entered into their days rested and ready to explore new challenges, including making playdough together, painting at the easel, exploring magnets, and exploring a sensory table filled with lavender scented rice.

Rolling pins, cookie cutters, and buttons invite the children to cut out and create. The dough also smells of cinnamon!

This child even found a way to "bake" his cookies!

The rug was a busy place for building in a group or finding a solitary space to play.

These two children talked about having the "same size" parker pals one day, and made it happen the next day.

We went out in the fresh snow looking for tracks, and found many deer tracks and dog tracks. The snow was also great fun to slip and fall in!

And, finally, a book has captured our attention: Extra Yarn  by Mac Bernett, illustrated by Jon Klassen.  We read it at least once a day, and it's an imaginative tale of a young girl who finds a box of yarn, and uses it to make sweaters for everyone....and has an endless supply as she is knitting for everyone. I recommend a read!
in the meantime, we are trying our hand at knitting, and giving.   We'll keep you posted!

Until Next Time,
Michele
