Pizza Restaurant AND READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY!

We had an eventful "welcome back to school" week this week. Our Pizza Restaurant was in full swing as the children took orders, mixed up lots of pizzas, and delivered boxes all over the classroom,  We noticed that there were often more chefs than customers, but it all seemed to work out okay.

Read Across America Day was a day of stories, characters, and costumes. We sat together and talked about our own stories and characters to bring more meaning to the idea of "dressing up as".  Lucille Collandro, the writer of There Was an Old Lady   books, came to read to us from a few of her books. We learned about rhyming words, and surprise endings, and predictions.

We have a very "hands on" approach to cooking with our 4-5 year olds. The children catch the dough to stretch it, spread the sauce, and sprinkle the cheese, facilitated by Agi.

Read Across America Day. I tried to get everyone's picture, at least in the group shot!

We sat together to talk about our costumes and our stories.

Thank you to Lucille Colandro, who came to our classroom to read her very funny books from the series I Know an Old Lady.....

Until Next Time,
Michele
