The Post Office Unit involves a lot of writing, role playing, and letter recognition. We talk about our home addresses, sight words for writing, and practice writing "mom" and "I love you." There is a lot of fine motor practice as we fold cards and letters to make them fit into envelopes, write with different utensils including pencils, pens, and markers, and fit envelopes into the slots of our friends. The children gather their special notes and sometimes take them home, sometimes recycle them, and always enjoy the exchange!
We ended our week by writing to ourselves, addressing the envelopes with stickers, and stamping the notes at the front desk. The letters are on their way to children's homes!
