We had a shortened week of play and learning, but gathered a lot of images! The children continued to explore construction and cooperative play with all sorts of cardboard boxes, tubes, and shiny paper. It was great to see the interaction and turn taking that happened naturally when there was "project" to be accomplished. Some children were happy with sitting in a box with tubes, some needed to color and add pieces for wings or rockets, and others created wonderful stories of space travel. During story time we learned about characteristics of different planets, and the children each had a favorite. Saturn and it's rings won over most of the children, although Jupiter and Earth were also mentioned! We did get outside, finally, and explored in the snow. The children used old-style record players to create "orbits" around a central sun or planet with markers, and painted beautiful planets with watercolors.
Until Next Time,
Michele
