Week of the Young Child

The Week of the Young Child has become a nationally celebrated institution amongst early childhood educators and the young children in their care.  The week of acknowledgment was started by NAEYC, and is held as much to honor the very young as much as it is to raise awareness about the importance of early childhood education.  

In recognition of WOYC we have collaborated to create a host of activities that serve to highlight the role of early childhood in our community of learners here at Parker, as well as to HAVE FUN! 

Art Attack Monday! 

The doors between the classrooms was open and we gave the children the opportunity to explore many open ended art activities. 

The day culminated in a combined story time with an art book!

Tuesday Pajamas and Pancakes! 

Imagine coming to school in your pajamas and eating pancakes for snack.  Super yummy and fun! The day culminated in a candlelit story time of good night stories.

We colored small squares to construct a paper quilt with our prek3 friends.

Wednesday Crazy Hair Day and Face Paint!

 The children arrived with all sorts of interesting hair colors and styles, and we offered face paint !

We made "dirt pudding" for a special snack too!

Thursday Dress Up Disco Dance Day

We had the opportunity to arrive at school dressed up, parade through the school to celebrate the Young Child, AND have an epic dance party in the classroom, complete with lights and dance tunes.

It was difficult to capture the fun that a dance with lights and soundtrack brought to our classroom!

But everybody danced!
