PreK 4 Classroom Life.....

Our classroom is vibrant and brilliant every day.  The children are given space and time to seek friendships, play together, build, create, and imagine. This week there was a bowling game that was constructed on the rug: And then there were clipboards for keeping score, and pencils, and someone was in charge, and someone bowled, and someone encouraged, and someone counted up the knocked down pins. Sometimes the game was very popular, sometimes there were more scorekeepers than bowlers. The pictures below were taken over the course of the week; you can see how consistently the bowling alley is constructed, completely independently by the children, and the rules of the games were shared, and turns were taken.

While the bowling game was happening on the block rug, in the dramatic play area there was a lot of packing and traveling; the clipboards were added for map drawing and list making. The babies were all buckled in!

We continued our study of birds with the addition of a guide to birds that might come to our feeder pasted in the window-we get to learn the names!  We have seen cardinals, tufted titmouse, and house wrens.  We are wondering, though, who's eating all the birdseed?  We put some yarn out in the trails for birds to use for nesting. We hope we see bright colors in the trees as a result! We learned about the qualities of feathers by painting with them onto an egg shape.

We also rehearsed for Spring Sing, standing on the risers and singing our song through a few times with Sara. We'll be lovely to listen to!

and, finally, we have begun planning for our "week of the young child" celebration next week. The children brainstormed fun ideas like crazy hair day, art day, outdoor day, and beach day. We'll let you know what our week will look like!

Until Next Time,

Michele
