This unit provides us with the opportunity to create, think, and share stories. The children created structures with wood bits and glue, painted them, and will be dictating stories about them to create the
PreK 4 Structure Book . These structures will be well loved and admired until project night, when they will finally go home! I expect to be asked each day if the structure can go home (😊). We have been outside in the beautiful weather, and our plants are continuing to grow. We replanted our flowers from before break with grass seeds, and we're hoping to see some new plants soon!
We started the week by painting 3-D papier mache houses and adding details.

The children are finding ways to be together in groups, appointing "leaders" and having everyone join in. There's so much communication, and cooperation and very little competition when things get this active. We are amazed at the turn taking that is happening naturally! This cooperative child-led group play is definitely a result of the long stretches of free play time that the children have spent in this supportive space discovering similarities and differences, sometimes arguing, negotiating, pretending, and playing.
Sometimes an activity just works for a child in the classroom-and then there is such joy!
These girls needed extra paintbrushes for "mixing colors"- they were so conscientious about not mixing the colors in the pots.
a "worm habitat" is being created here!
What a crew! lining up.......
