Outer Space Explorers!

We are studying the sky this week and next week. We talk about planets, the earth, the moon, the sun, and the stars, and learn facts about our galaxy. The children immediately embraced the "reference books" during free reading time. Our art work has included the sun, a crater filled moon, and an "earth" printed from a glass circle. We have loose parts play on the rug with many boxes and pieces for the children to construct "rocket ships" for traveling, and we are experimenting with constructing communication "tubes" and skylights as well as maps. Of course, there is a lot of coloring both inside and outside the rocket ships. We have explored a polymer substance made from glue that stretches and oozes, and there is a control center in the window with reference books and computer keyboards to plan the trips!

Until Next Time,
Michele
