Apples in PreK

Our field trip to pick apples this week and the beautiful fall colors outside precipitated a closer look at apples. We shared many art activities that were red, green, yellow and some brown. We made a dough from apple blossom conditioner and cornstarch that was smelly (in a good way) and fun. The children learned a "Manzana" song from Rosalba, and learned the science of an apple growing from a blossom. Our field trip to the apple orchard was a wonderful experience of picking apples with family and friends, and we brought back a big bag of apples to begin baking with. We've already baked apple cookies!

The children are quite comfortable in the classroom now, and want to know their jobs and are enthusiastic in completing their jobs. They enjoy our stories and songs, and everyone gets to the art table to make something every day. The big blocks are used to make structures that will fit a lot of children, and we're learning that there can be "more than 1" princess, sister, mom, or dad. It's different at school!

Until Next Time,
Michele
