A busy week of work for PreK4 learners! The "Post Office" had a lot of writing and sorting action, and we had a visit from Gene the Mailman. He took letters that we had written and stamped at the front desk to mail for us, and delivered coloring books to us! The children had many questions about the working of the mail route, such as "how many days does it take for a letter to get to California?". We know for certain that a letter needs a stamp if it's going to be delivered.
We used maps to move around the school, and found the rooms that we needed. We also looked at a map of our area and found our houses and addresses, and talked about our addresses and the numbers at our houses. We've constructed "structures" with wood and glue that we will paint and write about, and we've read books about home, especially A House is a House for Me.
The children made a chain, working altogether, that stretched from the bulletin board out the door! The whole school heard about it.
Words We've Heard:
"my map is a pirate map"
"what happened to peace?"
"what would children do without school?"
Until Next Time,
Michele
