Outer Space

We started our outer space study with cardboard boxes on the rug and a "control and communication center" that has keyboards, phones, books about planets, and cards with pictures of our solar system available for the children. There are crayons and markers available for decorating the boxes, and a model of our solar system for the children to experiment with.

Our art work has been focused on experimenting with circles and intense colors, and printing "craters" onto a circle (with slinkies!)

We had an expert on planets visit us, and he showed us, with stuffed "planets" (the children called them parker pals) the scale of the distance of the planets from the sun AND described the planets for us, including facts about asteroids, stars, and comets.

And, stars!

Until Next Time,
Michele
