The children are finding their rhythm as they get used to the routine and schedule. We are learning that transitions are necessary to continue the day, although maybe in a different way, and that everyone can contribute.
"rainbow soup" in the water table-with scoops, bowls, lots of colored shapes, and water.
The children "made" colors- "teal" , green, brown, purple, orange........
A puzzle of the live cycle of the monarch butterfly, celebrating the chrysalis that we have in our classroom.
The easel was open this week, with colors that could mix.
The "message writer" dictates a message to Agi, and illustrates it. Later in the morning, during morning meeting, the message will be read to all the children.
We begin our morning meeting with calm breathing, and one of the children gets to tel lus how many times we will breathe while we watch the glitter jar settle.
Books are a choice during the day, and often we will have space in the day for reading as a transition is happening.
The "message writer" gets to explain her illustrations.
We have lovely gardens on our school campus that are open for exploring and running in.
We celebrated rainbows by sharing music and rainbow making (with shaving cream clouds) in a jar.
The colors slowly dropped in the jar, and settled, swirling colorfully as we watched.
Crayon resist, and a busy rainbow builder!
As the teachers, we look for signs that the children are trusting us and finding happiness in their interactions with us and each other, and we are already hearing lovely stories about home, asked to join in with pretend play scenarios, and given lovely drawings from our new friends.
This child created and decorated a block structure that we just had to take a picture of!
Until Next Time,
Michele
