Welcome Back to Pasta Week!

We come back to school for a week of pasta cooking-the enjoyment of our favorite pasta dishes helps to ease the transition to the structure of school after our long break. The children have enjoyed their return to school, I believe, as noted by their excited voices, playful attitudes, and great big hugs.

We shared pasta poems, books (More Spaghetti I Say! and Strega Nona are two favorites) and art projects; gluing with pasta boxes, painting with yellow onto red, and using spaghetti and paint to create pictures.  We have sung many verses of "On Top Of Spaghetti" and watched Mr. Roger's visit to a macaroni factory-after which there was a building session on the rug to create all of the components of the factory.

Best of all, we cooked pasta for snack each day. Our favorites were categorized and will become a pasta book, and they were sung to the tune of "I like to eat eat eat.....apples and bananas".

Until Next Time,
Michele

We cooked our pasta in the kitchen-and here we are taste testing!

"mac and cheese"

Jen shared a book about a Muneco de Nieve (snowman!) and the children found the nariz (nose) boca (mouth) boton (buttons) sombrero (hat) and bufanda (scarf) to complete the muneco de nieve (snowman).
the sensory table was full of colored pasta and pipe cleaners for bracelet making

spaghetti makes a great painting tool!
