Autumn

As time goes by in our PreK 4 classroom, we begin to make strides in our friendship skills and caring attitudes. The "comforter" in the classroom is becoming a hoped for job, and the children are practicing helping one another even if they are not the comforter. They are becoming aware that their actions can be comforting or helpful to another, that they know how the other child might feel. Sometimes a child even calls out "comforter!" if they see a need.

 This "comforter" was called upon a few times to help others, and he rose to the occasion. "What's wrong?" "Maybe you can ask your daddy and then he'll bring your blankie." 

Even when we're outside, the children will gather to comfort one another, sometimes with the help of a teacher. It isn't easy to be told by another child that you hurt them, but it helps if you can "fix" it with a kind word, an ice pack, or, in this case, hugs all around. 

 We took a walk outside to look for "fall" and found all sorts of clues to collect!
