Fall and It's Time to Pick Apples!

We were all about apples this week. We printed with apple shapes, played with farm animals, tractors, and corn in the sensory table, and sang a song about "standing at the top of the apple tree!" The children had a great time picking apples with families and friends, and we made our first apple dish, a crumble! Lots of apples needed to be chopped. We are reading books about apples, farms, and pumpkins, as well as fall.

The writing table has many visitors, as well as many types of writing implements and paper.

The block rug was very active this week! These children are reading a book that they wrote, riding in an airplane.

We had a beautiful apple picking day.

Shining up an apple so it's ready to eat!

Painting with a rolling apple; a very active and noisy way to paint.

Chopping apples all together.

There was a puppet show this week about how to handle getting pushed. We decided that in our peace zone we could ask for someone who pushed us to draw us a picture or play with us, and we also  thought telling the teacher was a good idea. We hope to help the children to realize that they get better results when they use words, but that strong feelings do happen and there are ways to handle them. We encourage the children, when they tell us that someone did "something" to them that they didn't like, that they can say "I didn't like that!" and then we all learn how to be better friends to each other. Everyone is learning.

piles and piles of writing.

Until Next Time,
Michele
