"Hi I'm Cat in the Hat. I help Sally and Nick solve their problems and the places they need to go is far away so I fly in a thingamajigger."

"Hi I'm train conductor. I blow the whistle blow the horn off we go whoot whoot the train goes."

"Hi I'm Pippi Longstocking.I can carry my horse and I always get into mischief."

"I'm Mike the Knight. I go to the village to see if everyone's okay."

"Hi I'm Abigail the Breeze Fairy. I'm in a Fairy Ballet."

"I'm Press Here. I do all the pages of the book."

"I'm Toothless the Dragon. I'm the lightning dragon and I'm in the movie."

We had a wonderful day for Read Across America Day, which merited its own blog post. The children did not mind lots of pictures being taken, and told us their stories as their characters. We had a puppet show to start our day and a "meet and greet" with the puppeteer, and then a visit in our classroom with Sylvia Kantorowitz, , a local artist/illustrator who drew each of the children in character after she read from her book.
