A WEEK OF COLORS AND WRITING ALL ABOUT ME

Writing has begun in earnest! The children wrote about themselves, made signs and messages for eachother, and have begun a book (with "teacher help") about themselves. We added messages to our "me" cereal/porridge boxes, and hope to continue to do so every once in a while.

This week was "green week"

and more talk about ourselves and our friends. We completed full length portraits, and sang about our friends names and being friends.

Our first baking project went off without a hitch, and the cornmeal muffins were enjoyed by all. Our artwork included gluing color circles, painting with green string to make symmetrical interesting paintings, and creating our second classroom book, A Color Walk in the Butterfly Garden. You might hear from your child that we saw a praying mantis in the garden! It prompted a lot of observational conversation!
Words We've Heard:
"they can shoot fire and they can take pictures and you can call on them. They're like a cool kind of i-phone."
"they call them bodyguards but they are actually plain guards"
(pulling aside curtain) "let the sun shine in!"
"maybe we could have a little band for the big kids. I think they'd like that."
Next week will be all about Fall and the colors and happenings of Fall......
Until next time,
Michele
