Fall Colors are in the Classroom!

Here are some photos of the past two weeks for you to enjoy. We continue to enjoy the colors of fall, the rustling of leaves, and making food together (soft pretzels!). We spent time out in the forest this week, running down a slippery slope and climbing on tree trunks. The children created leaf prints on salt dough, painted with all sorts of branches and acorns, and explored a sensory table full of dried beans, beads, and jewels.We noticed children "gathering" for activities at the tables, the block rug, and outside, and a lot of communication and negotiation going on, perfect for this time of year in a preschool classroom. The children initiated a story time, "face painting", and card games, playfully interacting in the realms of their imaginations.

Safety and a Fire House Visit!

 This week we glued shapes to make a fire truck, painted with fire trucks, and wrote a book about safety. We reminded the children how safe they  are, and that they have parents, teachers, and friends and family around who love them. There was an ice cream store on the block rug this week (you'll notice the queue) and everyone was helpful OR ordering their ice cream. Bonus, the ice cream was "free." Lavender playdough made it's way into the room, and it was a delightfully peaceful and relaxing experience. We visited the fire house and enjoyed climbing through the trucks and the flashing lights. AND, finally, at end of the week, we were reminded that fire and heat can be helpful, especially when you want to make quesadillas!

Fall Happenings!

We explored the colors and textures of fall; we talked about the flowers and plants dying and leaving seeds to grow new plants or feed the birds and animals, and gathered seeds to stick to a sticky board. we glued leaves, printed with fall colors, and enjoyed the earthy colors of fall at the easel. We planted a few trees with our buddies and some master gardeners to round out a wonderful week!
