Growing - Seeds!

We've begun growing plants  from seeds in the classroom. There are bags of seeds with paper and water on the window so that we can see the process of growing, and we have buried seeds in the dirt to sprout some flowers! The children are pretty clear about what happens first. When we gave them a piece of paper with a bean glued onto it, they chose to decorate it in many ways. Some children drew a flower head around the seed (we've talked about flowers being the source for seeds) and some children put the seed "underground" with roots and  a stem growing from it. Some children colored beautiful colors around their seed!

We had a beautiful and green walk outside this week, and we added dirt to our "butterfly garden" which needed replenishing!  We will be looking for donations of cutting from family gardens soon.....

For National Love a Tree Day, we posted some love notes onto the tree outside our window. The children said such things as "I love your shade" and "I love your pinecones".

The flower bed is ready for some new life!

The BIG news in the classroom was the construction of intricate block structures; some as individual projects and others as group constructions.

block transport!

Building like this takes a stretch of time, focus, cooperation, and determination to handle random crashes and balance issues!

Until Next Time,
Michele
