Apples Make Art! And Hints of Fall

We printed with apples at the beginning of the week, and there was a query ; "how many ways can we paint with apples?"

So we continued and found THREE ways to paint with apples altogether-print, roll, and use as a paintbrush.

As the children all choose the art table each day, this was a very interesting way to learn about the properties of apples, inside and out!

Meanwhile, at the easel, two paintings of apple trees were created.
We cooked for the first time this week. Agi and the children created a delicious apple crisp, from chopping the apples to making a crumble with butter and putting it all together. Agi finds that the children come and go from the activity, but there are usually one or two children who will see a recipe through from beginning to end.

And, we got outside to search for clues that FALL is here.  We hiked the field and into the woods, and stopped along the way to pick up colorful leaves, find different types of nuts, and even found an acorn beneath an oak tree. There was  a lot of excitement  in realizing that from an acorn comes an oak tree! I later watched as a few children poked the nuts that they had found into mulch on the playground. We'll see!

AND spotted in the classroom-a rainbow. That rainbow traveled from one end of the classroom to the other-and engendered many questions. Perhaps our next inquiry?

Until Next Time,
Michele
