We had a brief week, but managed to explore our skeletal system with a full size skeleton and a bin of "bones" to compare to. We also offered the children a chance to look at x-ray pictures of bones at the light table. Our sensory table was filled with red water, tubes, and funnels. The children created an "x-ray" picture by printing their painted hand and arm, and we wrote one of my favorite books, the "Band Aid Book." For this book, we trace the child's arm and they open band-aids and put them on the drawing, then we ask them to dictate a story to us. Every 4 year old has a tale to tell, from shots at the doctor's to bumping their head to a splinter. They tell their tales with honesty and almost a bravado, and are happy to listen to everyone's version of a band aid tale.
The shoe store was a happy choice this week as well, and we continued to need a list for the hot spot cash register positions.
We had some wonderful snow to play in outside this week, and we certainly took advantage of it!
