We've also continued to work with the children and their energy levels and needs as a group. Our morning meeting is now composed of a calming breath, greeting, and some sort of centering or cooperative game in which we sit in a circle and sing, pass a ball around, or in some way get to see each other in a calm, cooperative light before we head outside and begin to negotiate our play roles.
Interesting read!

We found this article to be interesting and informative for us. Children play what they need to play, and it is our job to help them to play together without aggression and conflict, but words and ideas. Often we are inserting ourselves into the active play, offering ideas about rescue, treasure hunts, making things, or rocket ships instead of "play fighting." We had a talk about the fighting that has happened occasionally, and we all agreed that any type of fighting did not belong on our playground or in our classroom, as it wasn't safe and children cry. We also have instituted a two step process for children who forget and push or hit or grab or knock down someone's building-first you say " I'm sorry," then you ask "how can I help you?" and follow through on what is needed. Often the children just want to hear "I'm sorry." These two steps are thanks to one of the children in our classroom-thank you!

Palabras de la Semana: Otono Puppets!
With all sort of fall collage materials, the children created Otono Puppets (autumn puppets) with Rosalba-as she reinforced the autumn words and colors that we know.
Until Next Time,
