"which way does the water travel if the top of the plant gets colored?"
"what does a seed look like as it sprouts?"
"how long does it take for a seed to sprout?"
"what does a seed need to grow?"
We've also been trying our hand at "observational drawing" and we're keeping track of our bean seeds growth.
We are really coalescing as a group, and each child tries very hard to work and cooperate together. I frequently hear children say, "be kind, be kind, be kind" to each other, which is our only rule in the classroom.
We painted "roses" with the base of the cut celery.
The celery got switched out for white flowers!
"What happens to a seed?"

| a little bit of show-stopping music! |
| the children learn from each other as they gather information and draw what they see. |
We started off "STEM" (science, technology, engineering, and math) week with the whole school and were given our own materials and space to work. The task was to make a structure as tall as possible with just index cards. The preK 4's worked very hard, and then were excited to see the structures that other children worked on. My group made a "table and chairs (!)" We brought cards back to our classroom to continue to engineer our own structures.
Until Next Time,
Michele
