"Feed the bird" with tongs that work like a really big beak.
Our student teacher brought in a prop box that was all about camping. The children embraced the bug collecting jars, lanterns, fishing poles, and "marshmallow toasting on the fire."
We made "eggs" out of salt dough to go into our nests. After looking at pictures of eggs, the children decided what type of eggs they were making and got to work. There were ostrich eggs, flamingo eggs, "robins blue eggs" and multitudes of tiny eggs.
Outside!
The "nest making" table. The children chose the materials and decided whether their "glue" was spit, mud, or spider webs.
The Spanish words for the week are:
huevos-egg
pajaro-bird
nido-nest
Science comes alive for the message! Complete with diagrams.
Choosing the color for the eggs and painting them.
Hard boiled eggs!
A new book came to the classroom and this child generously held it up so everyone could see it. It was still a close fit.
The children are beginning to orchestrate play with together. They stand together to "script" their play, decide on characters, actions, and then follow through, and then move on. In this instance, the "pirate fairy" is walking through and being greeted by the other fairies.
A cozy nest built for two! And some babies.
Happy Birthday!
Until Next Time,
Michele
