Getting Ready for our Feast

We had a busy week in the classroom this week! The children enjoyed baking pumpkin bread and creating invitations and a special backdrop for our "fiesta". The big blocks were used to create homes, ramps, and castles. There was cracked corn in the sensory table for measuring and serving, and we celebrated a quiet moment with our candles and stories on the rug. We've added the light table to our choices, and we're discovering the properties of colors and shapes.  Our ceremonies involve singing together and telling a story, then sharing a ritual of taking our candle jars to our lunch table. The children helped to tell the stories this week, taking turns adding a word or a sentence to the "Story of the Owl on the Mountain."
Until Next Time,

The making of the pumpkin bread is a very hands on affair for the pre-k 4's. They have had lots of experience in our "kitchen" and so are ready to crack eggs, measure, and stir. As each ingredient is added, the children smell, touch, and sometimes taste.

AND we made and delivered invitations to our buddies and to our school friends. We were very enthusiastic about getting ready for our event!
