Day Sky Night Sky, Construction Phase

This week we constructed our rocket ship from all sorts of materials that turned out to be perfect for rocket ship construction. After brainstorming a list of what we needed, we started work! Red and Yellow flame "tubes", buttons and controls, shiny circles and windows, and solar lights were added to the project. The smallest spaces got the most use, as children tucked themselves in to sit and watch the goings on, or were joined by others in their hiding space. Everyone found something to do. We ate snack in our rocket ship, read books, and built with blocks. New friendships were formed as we gained a new found interest in lego or duplo blocks. Our art projects reflected interest in the universe, and we constructed a galaxy of planets, the earth, moon, stars, and sun. Our buddies helped us to color bright galaxy chalk drawings, which we sprayed with white to give the appearance of stars. The most delicious cake, we decided, was a "moon cake" sprinkled with "moon dust."
Until Next Time,
Michele
