Last Days were Fun Fun Fun

Here's our final blog entry, and it's a buncha buncha fun images from our last days. It was hot, but we had fun. The children enjoyed favorite activities like clean mud making, and field days and Team Tie Dye won the bucket race, as well as the notice for the "most time spent in the bounce house".

Blocks

Are the blocks open? Is a question that is asked every day in the classroom (they always are, even if it was really really difficult the day before to get those blocks put away)....and we are honored to observe the children in their play.

Often these very solid blocks serve to transport the builders elsewhere. There is a designated driver and a navigator.

The blocks can float down the Hudson with a sail.

Transport a number of children through outer space.

Sometimes there is great fluidity and flexibility in building with blocks and no completed product but many ideas floated and tried.....

Sometimes we see a plan in action and a completed product that has a name and a purpose as in the photo above....a castle for princesses.

Fish Fish Fishy Fish

Fish stories, shells to explore, and lots of colorful fish to create. The colors and the shapes of fish are fascinating and engaging! The children splashed the fish and shells about in the water table, read books about fish, and enjoyed playing "fishy pokey" which is a lot like the "hokey pokey" but with fins and gills.

Science in the prek classroom: wave jars made with oil and water and things that might float in there....oil and water don't mix!

printing fish, which turned out to be a favorite as you might know from the many prints in cubbies this week. "Realistic" rubber fish were rolled with paint, and paper was pressed on to create a print.

bug week

Here we go, it's nearing the end of the school year and the children are clustering, independently, to enjoy a book that each child takes a turn "reading". A silly book that asks for audience participation, asking questions like "would you like ketchup on your cornflakes?" (okay, to be honest, the teacher did add chairs to the circle...hey, I need a chair!!!)
