Teddy Bear Week was a great opportunity to share what we loved. We told stories about our "bears", sang about them, and shared a picnic with the three year olds on their rug. Making sandwiches of jelly or cheese, adding teddy grahams and a juice was voted the best of all. The children painted beautiful bears at the end of the week with watercolors. We noticed that teddy grahams are either arms up or arms down, sort of an interesting concept! We had a guest reader and a birthday guest reader and treat to round out our week.

Just today was a day of so many play scenarios with blocks and toys that we thought you'd like to take a look! The sunshine and the busy children combined in our room to make for a very friendly day.
Doctor week II included a "house call" from a family of doctors. We wrote books about what we look like inside as well as a "band-aid" book which involved telling stories about past mishaps that maybe required a band-aid. The children enjoyed the reading of this book! The role playing that we witnessed in the "Doctor Office" was very interesting. There were always enough doctors for the patients, and the "bedside manners" were impressive.

We are outside when we can be!!!
This week has been an interesting exploration of our five senses (smell, touch, sight, hearing, and taste) as well as dramatic role playing in a doctor's office. The children fill out charts, decide who will be the patient and who will be the doctor, and take very good care of each other. We have added uniforms and "career outfits" to our dress up corner...and the children are exploring community helpers. We traced ourselves to make self portraits which will soon be hanging up on the walls. It has been great fun!

Pasta Week ended with a buddy dinner...pasta, salad, bread, and the best cookies ever. The 4/5 buddies made us placemats which added to the color and friendship of the meal.
Pasta week was all about painting with pasta, gluing pasta, printing with pasta, and eating pasta. We sang "On Top of Spaghetti and a very funny "hey victor!" song about eating spaghetti with Freddie. The children enjoyed themselves immensely, and it helped the transition from a long vacation to school to be a happy one.
We celebrated a birthday this week and had a guest reader/art activity time. You can see the beautiful results on our classroom door.
